Mountain Biking - Rock shox ario rear shock

I measured my rear shock on my trek y26 and i got 6 and 3/4 inches. I want to put a rock shox ario air shock with lockout for those hard climbs. Is there anywhere i can buy online? I can get it locally for $245, but im sure i can get it online cheaper. Can somebody help me out? Also am i making the right decision with this rear shock? I saw others with lockout feature a lot more expensive! What you guys think.

To be brutally honest you're throwing money doen a rat hole. Save your money and buy a better bike: the Y26 really isn't worth it. It's good for learning, but it will never be a performance machine like you want.
I'm sorry about it sounding harsh but I'm not going to lie and tell you that buying an expensive part for this frame is going to be worth it for you. That's not how I operate

Its not worth it on that bike.....but if you want to go through with it, contact Trek. Get all the measurements, and make sure it'll fit.

I ran with guys with big expensive bikes and ones with x mart bikes. I just need some help on uphill, lockout feature would be great. Next bike ill get will be one of those expensive bikes. Aint nothing wrong with hooking my current bike up. Its all in fun. If the lockout works i know it would help.

I just upgraded my rear shock to a 5th element air and I only paid 170.00 for it.Check around,I got mine on MTBR and you could check ebay.If you could get the 5th air you wont need a lock out,it seems to be a really good shock.

As I said earlier, call Trek and ask them about the sizing on the rear shock. You might even be able to find the specs on the website for it. Have fun with the bike, and try sitting forward on the seat a bit more, it helped me with my last bike.

Raiyn, understood, all i know is that the rear shock bobs more than i want it to. With the lockout wont it at least stop the bob so i can climb easier? I think the bike is great on most terrain especially downhill. Whats with the design that you dont like? Whats antiquated about it, how old is the design? Why would they still make it? Why wont the shock help? Please explain to me.

Im not going to ignore somebody that can actually have good posts at times, but they already said they wanted to keep the bike, and you already said to trash it....no point in repeating yourself. You just gave me a article that says that if you put a lockout feature on the bike PROBLEM SOLVED! to be exact it states:

"These days it's all multipoint linkages and the bike frames resemble that used by hardtails. This is unfortunate, because with a lockout rear shock, the pogo stick effect can be eliminated. Note the Y33 in the above pic has a remote control to lock the rear shock. Problem solved."

You just convinced me to get the shock with lockout. Thanks! Now where to buy? I want a new shock. Any online stores?

Yeah that totally explains why only the low end bikes use the URT design these days. Your call.

Its a low end bike, i know this. Thats why im making it better. The design had only one problem just like they explained in the article.
