Advocacy & Safety - Where Can I Find Free Helmets?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I ride the city bike paths alot and see children without helmet continuously. If I were a rich man I would give every one of these kids a free helmet, but I'm not.
I have been told that there are sources and programs that will provide free helmets.
Can you all give me any suggestions?

they are not free, but close... The Safe Kids Coalition sells helmets at a cost of $7. These are mostly Bell helmets, and all brand new. They come in size for toddler to large adult.
Safe Kids Campaign (http://www.safekids.org/) to locate a group near you.
I just spent the weekend selling helmets to kids and adults. It was a very rewarding experience.
Our local police department gives out free helmets on occassion. Maybe yours do too. Call them and ask.
