I'm new here, but not new to the bike. In a past life (i.e. before wife & kids, etc.) I rode like a lot! 125-200 miles per week, p-ssed when I averaged under 21 mph, etc. Nowadays, I'm thrilled at 18+ mph. I'm getting addicted to the seat time again! My question is this:

What are some good nutritional supplements I should use for a) fat burning / metabolism and b) muscle building and recovery?

As far as fat burning / metabolism products, I don't want to rush out and buy Stacker 2 just because of the 92,000 commercials on TV, but I'm looking to drop a few lbs.

On the other hand, in my humble estimation, the best way to work off the excess is to ride like a madman, so what are some good products for pre-ride energy and post-ride recovery?

I'm definitely not in the shape I was several years ago, and I am looking for some good, sound advice on nutritional products; or sources for valid information.

As I said, I'm new here and I'd appreciate you all's feedback.

don't know anything for fat-burning/metabolism --- i think most of those weight-loss pills can be kind of dangerous...

not sure what you want for muscle-buidling/recovery...

for recovery, Endorux R4 or whatever it's called seems to be good for me - i just bought another huge bottle at Performance when i was back in the states last week.

for muscle-building... creatine is really good - i've used it on and off for 3 years with my weight lifting and it works. for cycling it doesn't really do much i think b/c it mostly helps build fast-twitch muscles --- so it's good for sprinting, but negligible for distance riding ---- in lifting, basically it supposedly allows you to work out harder soas to create more muscle microtears so your body rebuilds more muscle...
