What do you guys think about downloading music on the internet from places like kazaa, ares and other places like that? Do you think its right? I personally think its great, its a wonderful loopwhole to fight the man. These singers make millions and there upset for a little chunk change. Anyways spill your thoughts.

I think its great too. I used to download my music from Kazaa Lite and WIN MX, but since Kazaa Lite closed down and WIN MX had too many viruses i went with Limewire. No Spam or viruses what so ever.

I think if you took the average income of ALL musicians who focus on music as their primary career, they probably make as much money as a waiter or pizza delivery guy.
As for sharing music... some musicians can only get exposure outside of their town that way. The Dave Matthews credited file sharing as his explosion to stardom. He said he'd go to a town that gave him no radio play and his shows would sell out cuz of the exposure.
That said, majority of sharing is theft. It is wrong.
That said... Arr me matey, I'll sooner walk da planks than bows down to da evil RIAA.

It's illegal, so don't whine if you get caught. Note I'm not saying don't do it, just be aware of what it is you're doing, and realistically, unless your sharing millions of files, it's ulikely you'll ever get caught.
That said, check out this article (http://www.deadtroll.com/text/rant.wesmp3.html).
And Kazaa sucks. Go with limewire or shareaza or emule or anything else. Kazaa renders computers inoperable with all the crap it insists on installing.
I generally only download stuff I can't readily buy, which in Australia is surprisingly a lot. But then, I like listening to comedy albums, and since I like neither Rodney Rude nor Col Elliot nor Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson*, my choices here are rather limited.
What ticks me off is that apparently they're bringing in a law here that prohibits people from making mp3s of CD's they actually own. How friggin' stupid is that? (Again, not that I plan to obey such foolishness, but the principle of the thing, and the implication that they assume I'll be doing something illegal with these files is highly offensive to me.)
*there's plenty of good Australian comedians, it's just that it's only these buffoons that ever record albums.
