Dear friends,

I'm currently planing seriously to buy a new recumbent (trike) and believe the catrike is the right one for me even though I cannot test-drive it due to lack of availability.

As there is no dealer so far importing catrikes to Australia it seems I have to buy it online and have it shipped. Does anyone of you have experience or knowledge about the costs to be expected ?

I've had a quoting of US$350 what appears to be a lot of money to me. My level of knowledge in this regard is very low so it might be right? I don't know.

Thanks in advance, Sebastian

I have had a quote for an electric df a couple of years ago and it was $400 and that was at a heavily reduced rate (I had another quote that was $900), so $350 is probaly about right.

Dear geebee,

I was just wondering because I sent stuff, approximately 100kg, from Europe to Australia, what is even further away, as air freight for less then US$100 just two years ago ...

There are certainly very different prices in the US, but aren't those courier-prices?

Isn't the US mail much less expensive? May be they don't take it because of the size (19x24x46)...

Cheers, Sebastian

Have you considered buying an Australian made trike? They seem to be to type of favour for manufacturers over here. Check out http://www.flyingfurniture.com.au/trikes.html

Hello
where are you in oz ?

Dear Allister, sorry for not replying earlier.

Yes, I've had contact to flying furnitures.

I have a 2 wheel recumbent and want a trike for convenience and safty what limits the options.

The one I'm currently looking at, is catrike speed 2005 (www.catrike.com) but it seems that no one is importing them so far. Flying furnitures promised me to make an offer but I haven't heard from them yet.

Greetings, Sebastian

I did actually have a look at their webpage.

The bikes look solid (very much like greenspeeds, don't you think) and quite heavy.
I pretty much like catrikes geometry even though I could not drive one of theirs.

Actually I live pretty close where the famous greenspeed are constructed and today I did a lengthy tour on one of those and found it quite nice.

Greetings, Sebastian
