Mountain Biking - Dual Suspension

Back in the wal-mart bike days i remember wanting a Dual Suspension bike...When i got one i hated the pedal bob and stuff.

Now im just wondering, say you took something like the Trek Y26 frame, and completely redid it, with decent/good parts. Would you still get the pedal-bob and all the stuff like you get with the walmart ones?

You would if you didnt put a lockout shock on it.

It would be a waste of money. The Y26 is an OLD design (Y bikes debuted in 1996) and the URT design was never really good in the first place. You'd be a lot better off saving for a decent FS rig. MSRP of around a grand.

I think its more in the bikes' geometry than the components actually. If all the angle's don't match up, you'll still get pedal bob and swaying. My '04 HARO bobs some in the rear, yet my '99 K2 Flyin' Monkey never did. It's in the rear swing-arm / frame design....
