Taking a Bike to China on a Plane Customs Info Needed

I plan to take my bike to China just wondered if anyone has tried before
need customs details experiences and headaces
The bike a Lemond Zurich has a value of $4000 new I would fly into Hong Kong then by taxi or train to Shenzhen on a business visa I do this a lot.I will be staying in the area for a long time.
I know it sounds crazy but If I cannot sell my bike I may as well take it with me.
I know the traffic and other stuff I just need to get it in.
Also having got it in can I go to Hong Kong for the day I don,t mean the city more of the hills around the island.

Not a problem.

By the way... why don't you take the ferry into SheKou ? You avoid HK Customs and get there in 30 mins. Not only that but they grab your bags in HKG and load them into the ferry for you. Battling only 20 people off the ferry beats the hordes at LoHu any day.

Thanks for the info I have sold the bike but sure it will help others. I use the sky limo service from HKI as it drops you at Huanggang which is open 24hrs as the flights get in too late for the ferry. You save time if you live in the cbd.

Buy a bike there

Hi, The last post was a good idea. I live in Taiwan and I would consider just buying a bike in China. First learn how to inspect a bike for real components.
This site will give you some airport info: https://www.gfarnsworth.com/BikeAccess/default.cfm?
