that dude in the green (Dominguez??) was suffering big time.....the look on his face every time Brown cruised to the front of the group was priceless.

Points to him for hanging tough to the finish.

I think you'll see him at the Bay Crit series too..
ahhhh ok I didnt really know whether there was appearance money flying around or not. I can understand why gerrans might have better places to be than cronulla As for Brown, he has some extremely impressive legs!! I hope he gets more of a go in europe next season.

Indeed. Every woman in Utah county got 10 inches last night. Not much fun to drive in though.

Brownie is very quick at the pointy end of a sprint. Been racing in Europe for a while now (with Panaria before Rabobank).

Quite happy to go in hard with the body too. I think he and the commissaires have had a few "discussions" over the years. In the Bay Crit series a few years ago he and Robbie McEwan had an absoulte ding dong battle....(if I recall correctly)

ed073 might be able to correct me on this.

Brown nearly ran half the peloton into a parked car on the last corner at Williamstown IIRC

hey exxy, (forum-y just doesn't sound right ) haven't you got a fixie/fender equipped/etc hard-core winter beater so you can join the "how cold is it when you ride?" pissing contests that regularly appear?

Uh, have you seen my avatar? Not a fixie, but it's only got one gear. And fenders. The day I swapped tires, I noticed there was ice on the tandem.

Can you please give me some advice? On a few of my rides down beach rd way (mainly south of frankston to sorrento) I come across 'group' rides. They mostly seem to stick to 33-36kmh and this is just a really frustrating pace for me. I normally will roll at 38-40kmh but am really a bit unsure of what to do...I feel really awkward passing them and sometimes I will sit about 10m off the back (hoping they will turn off somewhere) just to avoid riding past them. I usually wait for a set of red lights and I will ride through them to get away from the group.

I know this might be a stupid post, actually it definately is a stupid post. But i just dont know whats the right way to deal with pack rides that i have nothing to do with.

Oh yeah, so it does. I'd noticed it was a pic of bike in the snow, but hadn't checked it for the finer details. I think I'd rather just go skiing if there is gunna be snow involved.

You can't ski to the store for a 6 pack. Actually, you could have today. But they can't sell alcohol on Sundays here. Of course, the beer has no actual alcohol anyway.

I've been burnt by enough snobs to have a chip on my shoulder about ALL riders, but I haven't coz it's obviously unfair to judge 'em all. It's rare that I feel like talking, so I just say my little "g'day" and try not to get into a convo, but I'll always chat back if someone starts
atm im the opposite...if they come the other way then ill give a nod and raise a finger or two but if i go past them on my side of the road I just put the head down and get past. im yet to even have a conversation with another cyclist on the road lol pathetic!!

This soueaster should pick up nicely, so I'll be mowing down small bunches like
ploughing through dry dandelions. It's grouse fun!

+1 what 531 says regarding bunches... if you are going faster then pass them, or, if you are going roughly the same speed sit off the back a little bit... unless you feel like joining in & then just ask if they mind or not. (also watch them first to see if they look they know how to ride safely in a bunch - some are just downright scary)
I prolly wouldn't roll thru red lights to get past a bunch though.

oh i only roll through early in the morning if its clearly safe (famous last words?). I would maybe join a group if i was happy with the pace but then i have this silly ipod hanging off me and enjoy the music and so I dont think they would appreciate my presence in that sense.

if you are asking to join in with a group do you have to ask the guys at the front? or just some guy at the back? is there a 'done thing' in that sense?
