i reckon it depends on the size of the bunch: the bigger the bunch the less they should mind one more dude stuck on the back. If it's just 2 guys I usually won't sit behind them, or at least I won't so so for very long. If it's 4 to 6 people and I wanna sit there, I might break the ice with "are you guys all together -- hope I'm not gate crashing", then I might say some crap like I'm exhausted, or I'm scared of the traffic and I feel safer in a bunch. I sometimes really like riding close to the gutter behind a 'two abreast' group, because I can have a break from looking over my shoulder for cars for while.Originally Posted by ecnetsixe
People go on and on about Beach Rd being grouse, but it's not the safest road out there; there's not even a bike lane. I just like it because there are heaps on Freds to mow down , otherwise I'd go elsewhere. It's nowhere near as peaceful as it was 10, 15 or 20 years ago.
