Mountain biking around Byron Bay, Mullumbimby

All you mountain bikers out there... can you suggest where I might find some sweet single track up on the north coast anywhere near Mullumbimby and Byron Bay area? I'm going to be spending Christmas up there and wanting to check out some cross country rides, and where possible technical single track. I did check out a LBS in Mullumbimby but that didn't prove very successful. I appreciate any feedback, suggestions.

Hope I'm not too late on this, head for Minyon Falls. Some awesome dirt to ride on in that area, and some stunning scenery. A lot of it is on old fire roads. If you're really feeling adventurous, you can ride a loop from Mullumbimby to Wilson's Creek, Huonbrook, Red Rock road (or something similar) down to the falls, then returning to Mullum through Coopers Creek and Repentence Creek. Further north, you can quite legally ride on the old fire roads in Mooball National Park, that's an area that I'm keen to explore a little more myself.

thanks for the reply Chris. Although I didn't catch your reply until my return to Sydney, I appreciate you taking the time to post some suggestions. As it happens I did ride the Wilson's Creek ride up to the escarpment, then turned around and headed back down. I really enjoyed the ride, and will check out some more when I return there. My wife and I are going to move up there in the coming months... better environment for the kids.

Sydney is the last place in Australia I would be raising kids

I know this is way to late, but the whole northern Nsw area is laced with some really nice rides...

esp out west a bit further, Kyogle/Woodenbong/Tabulum/ect .... old logging tracks, ect
