Zbike
Just a list of problems I've had with a Zbike convertion kit:
Arrived poorly packaged. Damage to wireing from the axel and a controller that lookes second hand.
No intructions
Could not use the original gear cluster as recomended
Could not find any gear cluster to suit from a local supplier. Only from Zbike for $30
Went with a single speed gear only to find the mounting threat on the hub has not been cut properly
Made a tool to work the gear on.... fitted at last
Did not fit in to a standard frame...crowbared it in, two poeple required
Tryed to fire the wheel up but only cluncked
Couple of electronic mates suggested it was the hall effect sensor or the controller.
Testing confirmed the hall effect sensors where OK os it can only be the controller.
The controller supplied has no brand name so no way of getting the information to repair it. The conroller is returned to Zbike, at my cost.
The new controller worked fine.
Spinning the wheel showed a buckel. Closer examination showed nearly all the spokes where loose.
OK, take it to a bike mechanic to have it trued up, only $20 quoted. Bike mechanic advise my that the rim has been mounted backwards, the spokes are too long so that the adjustment screws run out of thread before they can be tighten and rim is of such a low standard it will never hold its trim. He pionted this out to me and it was painfully odvious it was true.
$90 to fix and few strips of velcro and I'm now on the road
