Building another beach cruiser/trail bike!

Yup, its time for a new beach cruiser with a side of trial bike! Heres the foundation. Its used but in great shape. I see a chrome springer fork in her future!

speaking of chubbyscrusiers, I have been thinking about a springer front end for my Schwinn windwood, and saw that their front spring forks have gone up in price recently. Do you already have one or are you trying to find used, or new? Interested in seeing how this turns out.

I have a guy that gets them for me for a very decent price, in turn I throw him a nice bike every once in a while. If there were more people like him the hobby would be a lot better.

I seem to recall seeing some on eBay the other night...I could be wrong, though, thinking of whitewalls.

OK, I slapped an all black BMX Ashtabula type crank on her along with an all black drilled BMX chain ring, looks sweet! Im going to trade a vintage BMX for most if not all the parts I need including a set of heavy duty chrome wheels and whitewall tires, going whiteall 'cause I really don't feel like waiting for a set of crème, **** it.

If you do this you will never be really happy with the bike 'cause it's not what you really want.

Save up, buy some creme tires and make the bike right. You will be much happier with it if you do.

OK, so I didn't order a pair of the crème tries. but I did work on the new cruiser! She needs a saddle and a chain to make it complete. The tires have a crème stripe on the side wall, good enough. Here are a few crappy cell pics, its dark out and I took two pics, one with flash one without. Please let me know what you guys think of her so far.

So far so good, I think some might question a blacked out chain ring and chrome springer front but it really seems to work in the pictures.

I'm a sucker for a springer front end on anything though.

What kind of seat is coming?

Brand name isn't an issue on this bike, although I do have a like new non-sprung B-17....Hmmmm.... anyways I want an all black saddle with black springs, but if a black with chrome spring pops up I'll slap it on.

I think she's beautiful! I really like the springer...I always like them when they're like yours, and don't have too much rake (not a huge fan of low-riders). I also feel like you made the right decision getting a middle-of-the-road set of tires (with regards to color scheme). I think creme tires would have looked good, but this seems to have the best of both worlds...it's sleek, and yet with the creme walls, classy.

What saddle did you end up purchasing? And if you don't mind me asking, what was the final price tag on the build (total w/cost of frame)?

Edit: D'oh...forgot to add that I really love the pattern in the crank!

Thanks much! The seat is just some no name generic I found that fit the description of what I needed, black seat with black springs.
Complete build came out to a grand total of $215.00 as some of the parts I had on hand.

Not a bad build in the slightest, especially for that price! I'm kind of hunting about for a cruiser saddle that still has a decent nose on it, but not too much rise in-between the cheeks (I don't have much padding back there, so a pronounced rise causes worse numbness/pain than no rise at all). Currently I'm trying out a Cloud9 non-gel saddle with no springs and a center cutout that straddles the line between hybrid and cruiser saddles, but I'd love to have that springy old-school look like yours!

Nice cruiser, but I don't think it's trail-worthy. Pretty cool build, though, for the street.

Thanks, Nightshade!

I really appreciate your input here, especially on the Cruiser forum...since you just happen to be a bit of a Cruising fan.

I'll sift through these Bikeworld saddles and see what catches my eye!

I've ridden many canti frames on trials and the only "mishaps" I've had were pilot error. Now if you go out on a full blown MTB ride it might be another story. Then again I figure the kings of todays MTB scene ( https://www.klunkerz.com/ ) rode Schwinn and Schwinn style canti frames why can't I?

The yellow "Sunlite" seat seems to be the exact same seat I used on the Manhattan.
