Seatpost Collar To Prevent Slippage- Recomendations Please!
Can you recomend a seatpost collar that's not crazy expensive? I'm having slipage problems on my current ride and would like to prevent this from ever occuring on the new ride I'm building. Thanks.

How old is your current seatpost? We had a customer with an old thomson post and wear had caused it to oval somewhat and started slipping. A new post took care of the problem.

Yep aluminum cans i have seen used. Right now im using foil, the clearance is so small just one layer of it wrapped around keeps it very snug

As for shimming, the post fits snugly, it just slips over time. It think it's a bad/cheap collar. I've seen several posts around by people with the same problem.
To me this seems like another case of frame makers saving a few bucks at the cost of the consumer. What was the problem with the old style bolt design? It always worked for me. Set it and forget it...

Two other quick things:
1. Ensure theres no grease under the collar. Grease from the seatpost can often work its way under the collar or onto the seat tube where the collar sits. Take the collar off and clean both the seat tube and collar.
2. Rough up the inside of the collar with some light sand paper. Smooth paint on the seat tube lip and a highly polished smooth collar surface will often cause slippage.
