Shimano ST-R225 Brifters. 22.0mm or 23.8mm?

The ST-R225 brifters are made for flat bars. But are all flat bars 22.0? I see road flat bars available in 23.8mm as well as 22.0mm.

The Shimano site does not specify the diameter, nor could I find the answer anywhere on the web.

I am thinking of buying a Mixte frame, 3 x 8 road bike with drop bars and Shimano 2200 STI Triple brifters and changing the bars to flat bars with the ST-R225 brifters. But I want to know the proper bar diameter.

Front derailleur is Shimano 2200
Rear Derailleur is Shimano 2300

The spousal unit wants a flat bar road bike to replace her awful hybrid K2 cruiser. I have not been able to find any flat bar road bikes with a front triple at any bike shops, and after searching the web sites of Trek, Giant, Specialized, Jamis, Redline, Diamondback, etc., I have come to the conclusion that there is no such animal available through an LBS. Nashbar sells one but it's very low end, and Bikesdirect has several but I prefer the Bikesdirect Motobecane Mirage Mixte (Save Up to 60% Off Road Bikes - 2014 Motobecane Mirage Sport). Other suggestions are welcome. I thought about the Soma Fabrications Mixte frame but I want a complete bicycle, and not a major project.

22.2mm (not 22.0mm) is the standard for flat bar brake/shifter clamping points, regardless of bike type

23.8mm is for road levers i.e. STI
