Using brake pads from V-brakes in road caliper?

I have some Kool Stop salmon-colored brakes from an old Wal-Mart bike. Thing is that this old Wal-Mart bike had V-brakes so I naturally got the V-brake type Kool Stop pads. They look like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Stop-Comp...ords=kool+stop

So, can I stick those into a road brake caliper? Any compatibility issues I should be aware of?

My concern would be clearance (or lack thereof) of the pads to the rim. The spacers and cups on the attachment bolt are probably too long to fit the wheel in. Opening the calipers too wide to allow their use would probably result in lack of braking power and/or modulation.

I've used V-brake pads on old, horseshoe-style calipers which had a lot clearance. Braking was poor to bad, even on good days.

Sometimes the V brake pads can fit and work well, sometimes not so good. This is a classic question where trying it will give the only answer that counts. Andy.

You MIGHT also have an issue with the radius of the pad matching the radius of the rim well enough to match up.
That would be somewhat dependent on the width of the brake track.

Also might have issues with fork clearance. V/canti pads are longer than caliper pads;if they go far enough back into the fork, you may not be able to open the brakes properly.
