E-type F/D and BB sizing

So I've taken the plunge and I'm converting my 8-speed to a 9-speed (thank you, eBay). The big change means dumping my Alivio E-type F/D for a Deore top-swing and square-taper BB for an ISIS BB. But does dropping the E-type F/D mean that I need to decrease the BB width by the same amount? Or does the BB need to stay the same? And how am I supposed to pull the E-type F/D off? Thanks!

Jason

You buy the BB to match the crank and also give consideration to seattube size.Derailer comes off with the BB
