Has anyone heard anything regarding 4700? Last I checked it was supposed to be released in June, but I havent seen or heard anything.

Should be available soon. I actually saw a bike last weekend that was equipped with 4700 shifters and derailleurs. It was a pre production sample that a friend of mine was test riding for the company he works for. He said that shifting compares very well to 105, Ultegra, and Dura Ace 11 speed setups he has tried in the past. The bike has disc brakes so he couldn't comment on the new Tiagra brake callipers. According to him, cable pull ratio is the same as the more expensive 11 speed groups meaning that a Tiagra bike could be upgraded much more easily than the 4600 version

Sweet. Hoping to maybe pick up an upgrade in the near future. Couldnt really justify going to 11sp when all id really get was an 11t cog that ill never use.

When you said that the bike had Tiagra calipers, does that mean that presumably the Tiagra group will have disc brakes? OOps I just figured out that since the bike had disc brakes, that there was no way to comment on the side pull calipers.

There are cassette options that don't start at 11 teeth. I would also never consider an 11 tooth cog even if I were using a compact crank. Even the 12 tooth cog on my current cassette gets almost no use. I ride Campagnolo components, so if I ever convert to 11 speed from 10 speed, I will trade my current 12-25 10 speed for a 12-27 11 speed. I don't need higher gears at 65 years of age after a hip replacement 2 months ago

Probably because I initially misspelled "disc". After all, who needs dic brakes?

I didnt realize 11sp had a 12-27/28 option. I couldnt find anything even close to that below Dura Ace.

I recently put a 14-25T 9sp cassette on one of my bikes. Don't miss the 12 & 13T at all!

As I stated, I ride Campagnolo. If I switch to 11 speed I will again choose Campagnolo. 12-27 cassettes are available from Campagnolo. I have no idea what choices you have with Shimano

You can go all the way to 12-29 with Campy 11-speed.

That would be something I'm interested in too. Where did you buy it?

I ordered it from this site across the pond. The cassette was about $15 and shipping $10.
