mini pump

Anyone know any decent pumps that mount inside the frame instead of off to one side?

I have a Topeak Pocket Rocket that I've mounted behind the seat tube. Oddly enough it's never pumped a tire, as I've been lucky with flats for a while, but an identical one has worked fine for my spouse's bike.

IMO mini pumps are for mini air. Find the right length full size pump that you can mount under the top tube, or behind the seat tube from chainstay to seat stay. On many bikes it's possible to mount a pump under the down tube, keeping the top side available for a water bottle.

That's the truth. I'd carry a bigger pump if I felt that I needed to be in more of a hurry. I've still got the old Zefal HP.

An issue for me is that I'm trying to get over a case of tennis elbow, and patiently pumping up a tire with a smaller diameter pump seems to be less of a problem.

I was referring to the length. Diameter is a different story, and a long slender pump is ideal for pumping road bike tires to higher pressures. OTOH mtn bikers might benefit from a fatter pump which moves more air, though takes more force as the pressures rise.

The problem with most mini pumps, is that they're too short to be efficient.

That definitely makes sense. Especially since some of the length is taken up by the internals, I've noticed that a pump of half the overall length has much less than half the stroke length.

The laws of physics can't be violated no matter who makes the pump.
