Changing Drive Trains - chain and how often
So just recently my chain broke in road bike. realized its 3 years old the chain and does have 1000s of kms on it as well.
so thinking of not only changing the chain, new chain, but entire drive train
so new chain, rear cogs
also should i get new chain rings in front? or would that matter?
as in would a new chain on older front chain rings skip bit?
Do you suggest to replace entire drive trains? how often do you replace them? thanks

Define 1000s of kilometers. I rotate 3 chains on my Crosstrail, clean and oil religiously, and have roughly 35,000 miles on them. Little to no wear noted, yet! Same 9 spd cogs, and triple rings, that show very little wear, if at all! The only thng visible, so far, is polishing on the teeth, where the chain contacts them.
Yes, I am anal about lubrication, and probably do it too much..... not hardly! LOL
Look at your teeth - they are probably fine.
