Rear Shifting (Shimergo) Mix n Match: Shimano Shadow and 11S rear derailers
Always eager to do things I'm not supposed to, I've learned a lot from this helpful article on Rear Shifting | CTC
My question is, does anyone know the cable pull ratios of the new Shimano Shadow MTB RDs or the new Shimano 11S road RDs? It would be interesting to try using one of them with a _______ shifter for my 7 and 8 speed systems.

Shadow+ has the clutch, Shadow doesn't.
Some pull ratios: https://blog.artscyclery.com/science-...compatibility/
11 speed mountain isn't officially listed but it must be the same or very similar as 10 speed mountain, people are mixing 10 & 11 speed mountain components and saying that they work fine even though Shimano says they aren't compatible.
The 11 speed mountain & 10 speed mountain are both called Dyna-Sys.

This is what I came up with. I'm not sure how useful it'll be but here it is.
Thanks cobba, your link was very helpful. But it didn't provide RD ratios for 11S road or mountain so I had to use math to calculate them. So I'm not sure how accurate they are. According to the numbers in the link, Shimano 10 and 11 speed mountain components use different pull ratios.
This is based on the chart in my original link. Green = made for eachother. Yellow = good mixed marriage. Pink = shortened cassette.

I've tried to work out Shimergo for newer 11-speed stuff and it seems like I have found BF-members measured data for everything except Shimano road 11s. It's probably quite close to Campy 11.
You are basically SOL getting any brifters to work with a Dyna-Sys (Shimano mountain 10s) RD, which includes all the clutch versions. None of the brifters pull enough cable. Microshift makes bar-ends that will do it. If you want a Shadow cage, then there are 9-speed Shadow RD's that will work with 7/8/9/10 speed road shifters.

Shadow but not Shadow +.
Someone on here made a Dynasys Shadow + work by drilling a hole in the derailleur arm to reduce the ratio. There is also a way of making a Dynasys Shadow + work with a SRAM 9 speed MTB shifter.

In case anyone cares, my goal here is to see if these new RDs are workable with a Shimano 8-speed cassette. If I could find the appropriate shifter I figure the increased cable pull could smooth things out nicely and I'd have an additional source for RDs in the future.

I don't think the world is in any danger of running out of lower-speed hardware soon, although it gets less premium as it moves down the lineup.

In theory a Shimano DynaSys rear derailleur would be close with a SRAM 8 speed shifter. The same modification that works with the 9 speed should work with a 8 speed.
