Force 22 Rear Derailleur cable anchor bolt specs
tl;dr : Anyone know the bolt size for the Force 22 RD cable anchor?
Recently picked up a Force 22 RD from a friend; realized after I mounted it on the bike that it's missing the cable anchor bolt. My friend and I are both puzzled as to how it went missing, as he says that he tightened the bolts down after removing them from his frame. I'm thinking the bolt must have backed out when I was transporting the bike on top of the car, or something like that.
Regardless, as you might expect, shops around here don't stock that part, and it'll take about a week for it to come in. Not to mention that the MSRP for the part is $39 from some retailers (lowest I've seen it is $30). I ordered a cable anchor bolt and limit
While waiting for the proper part to come in, I'm wondering if any of you know the size of the cable anchor bolt for the Force 22 RD. The regular Force one is too small in diameter, so that is out.

In principal, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the cost of a bolt and a couple screws ($30) when I can get a brand new Force 22 RD for $99. Sigh.

RD pinch bolts are almost universally M5 (5x.8mm). You can pick up a functional stainless steel bolt to fit at a hardware store for under a buck. Buy a washer while you're at it, though the original probably has a tab of some kind to keep it from rotating. Also stock commercial washers often aren't thick enough not to bend if the wire isn't under the bolt head itself.
If you have a friendly bike shop or co-op, odds are you can source something serviceable as the washer, though you might need to file a bit to make a perfect fit.

Thanks! I think if the M5 is what fits 105, Force, Rival, etc, then it may be too small, as I've already tried a 105 and a Force bolt on there, and they were both too small. May try an M6

Out of curiousity I checked the bolt on my Force 22 derailleur and it is indeed larger than the standard M5 bolt. I would guess M6, but you could take the derailleur with you to a hardware store or whatever to make sure a new bolt will work. The only issue is the washer with 2 prongs that is connected to the bolt with a clip. A plain washer would probably work though.
