Tube size question

Recently bought a recumbent with a 20" front and 26" rear wheel. Been looking at replacement parts, tires, tubes, etc. Question is that I have seen tubes available for both the 20" and 26" being 1.25 to 1.5 or 1.5 to 1.75. Which fit would be the best to get?

BTW - both would be inflated to about 85 psi or so. Front is lightly loaded. Rear has the most weight.

Thanks.

what is your front and rear tire width? try to get close to that .. the imprint on the side of the tire has Numbers ..

451 or 406 For 20"? that matters .. 26" are usually 559. (diameter where the tire meets the rim )..

Tubes don't care what the pressure is, and as long as you get a tube meant for the same width or slightly smaller than the tires you will be fine.

Ooops. Forgot about the tire size.

The rear tire is 1.5 x 26 as per original mfg specs.
The front tire right now is 1.25 x 20. This is a smaller diameter tire than original. Original was 1.5 x 20

No numbers found on the present tires other than the sizes as above and max inflation.

For the front, a tube with a range somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.1-1.5 should work. For the rear, more like 1.25-1.75. Neither has to be exactly the same as the listed tire size.
Future reference, your 20" wheel is a 406, as opposed to 451. 451 tire sizes are listed as fractions, as opposed to decimals. (Almost always.)

ETRTO is an agreement to get Rim and Tire Manufacturers to Be compatible around the Globe..

so a 406-40 is a specific size or 559-40 all the better quality tires will bear these Markings

they are engraved in the Mold that Makes the Tires. so a raised marking in the rubber..
