Cannondale SR series - what crankset puller?
I've got two 1988 Cannondale SR series frames with cranksets that need to be removed. There is a hex nut that sits inside the crank that secures it.
Similar to this type: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrMqzIQEjN0
Only issue is that none of my standard nut sockets would fit in because the crankset's body is bulky. Suggestions?

Snap on tools makes a thin wall deep well socket that will work.

Well, somebody got it on there so there must be a tool which will fit. Newer and cheaper sockets tend to have thicker walls. The old (non-Chinese) Craftsman sockets were notably thin-walled, as are Snap-On. Perhaps one of those is your answer. Or get a cheap one and grind down the outer diameter.

As noted, better quality 14 mm sockets (the most likely size but 15 mm is also a possibility) have thinner walls and should work. Park Tools made a multi-size box/socket wrench (CCW-2) that had thin walls around the socket openings and fit 14, 15 and 16 mm crank nuts and bolts but it's no longer listed. They still make the CCW-5 but it's limited to 14 mm bolts and nuts. At worst, take the bike to a bike shop and see what they use.

Grind down a socket on a bench grinder, or buy a crank bolt wrench.

That was the word I was looking for -- crank bolt wrench. I'll probably order one online -- cheaper than paying someone to do it!
