Where to get Campy Nuovo Tipo cones?
Hello all,
I am fixing up an old touring bike with Campagnolo Nuovo Tipo high flange hubs. one of the rear cones is in terrible shape and really needs to be replaced, and one of the fronts is kind of bad.
I ordered one off ebay that i thought would work, only to find that it wasn't quite right. Fortunately it wasn't too expensive. In my defense, the photo was a little blurry.
On the left is the incorrect one off ebay. On the right is an original one (not the bad one).
Does anyone know of a source for these cones? I'd also be willing to buy from a forum member. Maybe I should get a premium account and put up a wanted thread.
And if anyone's interested, I have an extra wheel cone.

You might do better posting in the C&V forum here. Those folks are experts on restoring obsolete components.

Rear
Campy Tipo/Gran Sport rear axle set for 5sp 120mm
For front's, it looks like Ebay, maybe even have to buy a hub.

I took a look at the Wheels cones but they don't show any for Campy although they do have single 26 tpi front and rear cone - no idea if they would work or not.

You often will not find a cone specified for a particular hub. If the cone meets the following criteria it will work:
A (outside diameter) needs to be no larger than your current cone (unless you can enlarge the dust cap opening) and not too much smaller (may need to use an o-ring to prevent contamination if smaller than original)
B (threading) needs to match the diameter and pitch of your axle - not important of course if you replace both cones and axle.
C (distance from where bearings run to bottom of adjustment flat) needs to be at least large enough to allow the flats to fully clear the dust cap. If significantly longer you may have to reduce washer or locknut thicknesses.
D (bearing run diameter( needs to coincide to a position not near the edge of the conical portion. Will generally not be an issue unless you have substituted a larger diameter axle or a significantly smaller diameter cone.

I've attached a picture of a cone that has done 500km. You can see the track is in the middle of the race surface. The cones seem to be better quality than the original Tipo cones.
No idea about rear cones but I think these are a bit easier to find NOS.
Hope this is useful.
