Lumotec Lyt Functions

I recently purchased a Breezer Beltway 8+, and it comes standard with Shimano hub dynamo and B&M dynamo lights.

Lumotech Lyt LED Senseo Plus
DToplight Plus Standlicht

The headlight comes with a 3-way switch - 1,S,0

1 is "always on", it covers the light sensor
I cannot determine any constant difference in behavior between "S" and "0". I think 0 is supposed to be off, but I cannot turn off the headlight.

It seems both headlight and taillight respond to braking by becoming brighter, sometimes. they behave differently under different light conditions.

I suspect there may be a wiring problem. Should I be able to turn the light off with the switch? Should the headlight be responding to braking?

I've spent lots of time searching for documentation, and besides the german-language website for B&M, there does not seem to be a lot of specific information out there.

Can anyone tell me how these lights are supposed to work?!

Peter White Cycles in NH, Probably can he is the Importer-distributor to North America for the Lights .

I have had a 4D toplight senso. and now a 4D toplight senso plus taillight .

Where the 0 , off position of the battery Only powered light was is the Running off the hub dynamo connection
but only when the bike is Moving , stop & it Goes Off.

on both the others use the Batteries (2AA) when On , and S Senso .

Senso Mode Taillight can be left IN it draws off the battery when it's dark and you are in Motion,
then Turns itself off after you are parked and no longer moving for several minutes

Thanks, fietsbob. I emailed Peter White and he has since responded that the "O" switch will only turn the lights off once the standlight capacitor is depleted.

I'd still like to know about the braking - from the literature it looks like neither the front or the rear light should respond to braking. I'm also curious as to when or if the lights should be flashing. I can't seem to control that, either.

My lights are not mulitis (as far as i know) and have no batteries, only dynamo.

Thanks for the help. I really like these lights, I just like to know how to control and adjust everything on my ride.

there is a pulse detector , the Dynamo A/C pulses slow down as you slow and that makes the stored power brighten the Diodes.

storage in Capacitors .. AFAIK may be a rechargeable battery too in the brake light version..

Flashing lights on bikes in Germany Is Verboten .

you want something that flashes get some additional lights made in Asia.

Lumotec is really working!

Sorry to post to this old thread but I found a solution to the Lumotec Lyt headlight always being on. I just got a new Breezer Uptown as my city bike and had the same problem. The short story is that the taillight is grounded through the light's mounting screws. I bent away the internal connection to the mounting screw to break the ground connection and remounted the taillight. Now the system is off at position "0", on in position "1" and the sensor turns on the light and taillight in low light conditions.

You can test this fix by just unbolting the taillight with the wires still connected and electrically isolate the light from the rear carrier. Spin the front wheel and the light will respond correctly. I'm surprised that with the number of Breezer Uptown bikes produced that they never fixed this issue.

This may be a compatibility problem between a German taillight and a Japanese dyno hub.

Thanks for the reply!
I gave up on having the light turn off long ago. I'll have to go check it out.
After I get the fork fixed, which cracked under normal use last week
