Pivoting Stem for Easy Bicycle Storage?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything like it. I have been looking all over the internet for a system that would allow the straight handlebars on my 700c hybrid to swing out of the way 90 degrees independently of the wheel for easy storage in a compact space. So far, I can't find anything for a non-threaded stem. Foldable peddles yes, but no stem solution. Is there a product on the market that can do this? Thank you.

It would be the perfect solution!... if the kickstarter ever made it's goal. But with a $75k backing goal it is not surprising, that should have been no more than $18k. Oh well

How about popping off the front wheel? That'll let you turn the handlebar sideways and make your bike into a 1 plane object for storage. Lots of folks routinely do that for carrying a bike inside of their car.

That seems like my best option right now. I appreciate the advice!

With a little effort and maybe a Dremel tool one could equip a standard single-bolt threadless stem with a quick release lever allowing instant handle bar twist while remaining secure. I have a few of these laying around because they were really cheap at one point and would make a good starting point for the project:

Hey guys I found a commercial solution! It is really more for bicycle security to prevent people riding off with your bicycle but it would work well I think! The one problem is that it is $110, yikes! But with a lock it has the benefit of not dealing with a loosening spring pin system that could get dangerous over time.

There are a number of systems out there that will do the job. They are basically a tube that carries the compression from top cap to headset and a stem which clamps around it.
If I remember correctly, they weren't promoted for the ability to twist the stem, but instead to allow up/down adjustment without readjusting the headset.
