freewheel stickng
I've fixed the issue, think one of my ball bearings had lifted out of the track
Hi,
I've just put a new rear axle into my bike and given the cassette a tighten, but now my free-wheel is sticking so when I stop pedalling the cassette continues to go round and creates loads of slack on my chain.
It was fine beforehand so wondering what I've done to cause it to stick and how I unstick it.
I replaced the rear axle
cleaned the ball bearings in the hub and re-greased them
I noticed my cassette had a bit of play in it so tightend that up
And then put on a new chain.
Thanks

Do you have a cassette or a freewheel? There is a significant difference. When you only use words (as in no photos) the words need to be right.
Both freewheels and freehub bodies need a slight slop in their bearing preloading. If you tightened the preload past this point then that could be your problem. But other issues also could be at play. A seal could be improperly installed causing drag. The back side of the cogs or freewheel core/freehub body could be dragging on the hubshell or spoke guard. The lube you used could be too thick.
One could always take it all apart and go back to the pre playing with it state... Andy.
