Quick question on Sora front derailler rub
Did a search and noticed someone else having this problem with their Sora FD.
When I'm in the middle chainring in front...and either of the two smallest sprockets in back...the chain rubs on the front derailleur. This is a bad gear combination (too extreme)? Or should I take it into my LBS for adjustment? I thought that middle chainring meant any gear in the rear casette.... Thanks so much. |

Thanks! I figured that it hadn't come out of adjustment so quick (not much than 70 miles on her total) and now I wont go bugging my LBS.

I had the same problem but I dont have a sora front it a Nexauve or some wierd name like that. Took it to the shop now I can be in the 2 largest rear but not the smallest. I guess you just cant use them! Its false advertising when they say "24 speed!" when really ou cant even use that many gears.

Pays to stick with doubles. Although even doubles have a few bad combinations too.

The gear combination is not too extreme for the chain and cogs. Shimano says that you can use all of the cogs from the middle chainring. I don't think that is a reality without trim. I have no problem with Ultegra, but I do use the trim.
I would try to adjust it so if fits your riding style best. If you figure you can't use two cogs, you may be able to adjust to where you either don't use the big two, the small two, or the biggest and smallest. |
