Chain whip (rod) for Regina type freewheels?
I bought a LEZYNE chain rod today, it has a wooden handle. I have several bicycles that use the thread on Regina or similar freewheels. Is this a good tool for removing and installing that type of freewheel in lieu of the little tools that stick into the center of the freewheels? Or what is its best purpose?

No.
It's used for cassette hubs or possibly unscrewing individual FW cogs. You need 2 for that.

You have to be impressed with the pressure rating though.

What is used to pull the Regina thread on type? The simple little insert tool?
Thanks.

What you are looking for is a freewheel puller, another simple insert tool, and you need one specific to Regina freewheels. You will also need a large wrench to turn the insert tools, either the freewheel tool or the lockring tool.

Freewheel or Cassette?
I need both types of tools, I have both types of mechanisms (cassettes and thread on) on various bikes. I was just not clear on which is used with what. Since I swear I have seen a whip used to break a Regina thread on free wheel being as they can be rather tight. I do have the (various) insert tools which are used with a large wrench of correct size. I thought, apparently incorrectly, that the whip/rod could assist the removal of a thread on free wheel.
Thanks all for the assistance.

Chain whips remove cogs from the freewheel Body , You need 2, 1 to hold, 1 to unscrew .
lots of Regina Freewheel have the bigger cogs Left hand threaded , You have to take the freewheel off the Hub to access those.
