getting a stripped crank dustcap off, also grinding noise

Ok, so I was attempting to remove my cranks today and when I put in the 5mm allen into the dustcap that was covering the bolt it promptly and with almost no effort I stripped any semblance of it's former allen key qualities off. The dustcap is disposable, I don't really care if I have to cut it, but does anyone have a good way of doing this?

Ok, second question and more important. So could it be anything else that is causing this grinding noise, I crashed yesterday and I think most of the force fell onto the pedal when the bike hit the ground. It also fell onto the non-drive side of the bike. This wasn't a high velocity crash either, just a slick ground and not being quite careful enough.

So, here's the deal:

When I spin the cranks backwards there isn't the grinding noise and the chain spins freely and the freewheel seems to work well.

But when I spin the crank forward and the wheel is resisting, there is a very noticable grinding that I feel in the crank and I think hear too. I don't think it's the wheel because i took it off and spun it and it wasn't any worse for the wear with the feel.

Now, since there needs to be resistance for the grinding to be felt could it still be the BB because wouldn't it happen without resistance, where else could this come from? I'm pretty stumped by this. Maybe it's how the chain is tensioned when there is resistance, any signs I need to look for if there is something like the rear triangle being bent?

Thanks,
Andre

If it's plastic, stick a screwdriver in the hole and pry it off. If it's metal, try to cut a slot in it and use a standard screwdriver to remove it.
