Bottom Bracket sizing

My home-built recumbent:
https://www.bikeforums.net/recumbent/94284-post-your-recumbents-pictures-2.html

Is built on one of those ultra-cheap Y-frames, and has an ultra-cheap fixed-movable cup BB. I want to put in a cartridge job, as this one is proving almost impossible to keep in adjustment.

Can't remember how to measure. Bottom-bracket shell length? Spindle length?

shell and spindle are easy. just use a ruler or big set of calipers. use milimeters. the shell will most likely be 68 or 73 mm.
