Maintenance after getting caught in the rain?

Newbie here. I got caught in the rain for the first time today. After I got home, I wiped down my bike with a towel. What else do I need to do to keep rust and other bad things from happening?
Thanks in advance.

Keep it in a dry place if you can until it thoroughly dries, then oil moving parts.

Might be a waste if the frame is Aluminium.

Perhaps so, thats one reason i will never go beyond aluminum frames. I realize people love their steel rides but i just don't wish to concern about rust. If hes an aluminum frame his biggest worry about rust should be the chain/cassette. Even then, the rust tends to come off with oil and use. Bolts can rust a bit but i dont think of this as a major thing

Rubbish. Steel frames don't rust that easily. They only rust because of slackers who treat their bikes as beaters. Or maybe they are beaters. AL frames are for noobs.

It would take sick neglect to cause rust enough to have a failure.
I ride a 15 year old T.R chromoly frame and live in a sub-tropical rain forest.
Your right about the drive, mtnbikerinpa advises waxing the cluster? Might help -mind you I don't know what crap some clusters are made of -no rust on mine. I always store my bike inside.

If you treat your ride as lovingly and lavishly as your first stinking automobile, (assuming you had one) you'll never have a problem.

Now that you mention it, it is an aluminum frame (Giant Cypress 700c Hybrid), so I guess worrying about frame rust is silly. I will lube the chain, rings and cassettes, though.
Thanks!

Im not sure where you all get these ideas, do you get in bar fights too? I didnt say the frame rusts in a matter of hours. I only recommended frame saver because i suspected he had a steel frame and you might as well have some protection even if it doesnt come right away. THis is why we get shots of polio
