DIY Closure on Cycling Shoe
So during a group ride today, we had a scary moment when an animal jumped out on the road, and the group had to suddenly stop, resulting in a bit of a pile-up. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt, however, in the pile-up, the ratchet was ripped off of the side of my shoe.
These shoes are pretty new, and I'm fairly confident I can rig up a DIY repair. I'm pretty handy with a sewing machine, and have done various leather working before. Any one had have any ideas? My initial thought is to convert this to a velcro strap, though I'm open to other ideas.
What may not be apparent in the photos is that the original ratchet was bolted onto a stiff plastic plate that secured it to the side of the shoe. I didn't think to try and find the ratchet buckle at the time, though I know you can order replacements online. I am not sure how I would secure the ratchet to the shoe again if I did though...
Any ideas, or better yet, examples?
