Problem figuring out how to build my wheels

Hello all, I hope this is the right place to post and hope to get some help from you all.

I recently had this great idea to build my own bike from scratch by buying a naked 2nd hand frame (a vintage powerwing softride MTB frame) and all the required parts to build a bike. I could not find wheels I like and within my budget, so I thought why not building my own wheels as well...

Well now I seem to not be able to figure how to proceed with the rims I bought. The rims are Vuelta Europe Bomber's. It's a 32h deep V rim type but the thing is that there is, how to explain, a kind of a inner rim that gives me trouble. I purchased spokes and they came with 14mm nipples. But when the nipple is inserted they barely come out as there is a gap of about 8mm between the "inner rim" and the exit of the spoke holes. I did some research and found out there are longer 16mm nipples but the 2mm difference seems not sufficient to be able to put a nipple wrench on it to true the wheel.

I have created a imgur album with some pictures. I would really appreciate your time to have a look at those pictures and help me figure out what I need to do/buy to make this work.

Thanks for your time and help !

I have done some research on the forum indeed. But quite honestly I do not know what keywords I should be looking for.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Feel a bit silly now... I tought the longest nipples available were 16mm, but just found out there are much longer nipples available...I guess problem solved !

The proper length of spoke is one that comes all the way to the head of the Spoke nipple , and the bottom of its screwdriver slot .

any less and the head of the brass nip will fatigue and break.
aluminum nip, it will happen sooner.

You describe a double wall rim.
The holes on the "inner wall" should be larger than the nipple head, so shouldn't be causing any problem.

I just screw the nipple on an old spoke a turn or so to use as a nipple holder.

What you need are these.
Hexagonal | Sapim

You will need a special hex wrench for internal nipples, although what you will have is a semi internal setup.

No, that's not what he has. Check out his link. I mean, it is a double wall rim, but it has a deep socket in the outer wall.

Before you order the 25 mm nipples,

I have not built with that particular rim, but I have built with rims that had a faring around the nipple holes that prevented access from the outside with a spoke wrench.
The solution is hex head nipples that are tightened from the inside with a hex spoke wrench.

You will need a spoke wrench like this.
Park Tool 3 Way Internal Nipple Wrench SW15 | Chain Reaction Cycles

25mm spokes are made for wooden rims. If you go that route, try to find out before you buy how long the internal threads are. A standard spoke with 9/10 mm of threading may bottom out before threading through.
