27 1-1/8" tires for '89 Cannondale

Hello all,

I am new to cycling and recently purchased an old Cannondale St400 which, according to the catalog, came with 27 1-1/8" tires. I'm pretty sure the tires on there are original and I would like to pick up a new set. I came across the Continental Super Sport Plus tires and wanted to make sure there would not be any compatibility issues. Also, if you have any suggestions for other tires I'd love to hear them.

You should be fine; unlike some other sizes, 27 inch are basically all the same.
Short answer: Sheldon Brown's Bicycle Tire Crib Sheet
Longer answer: Tire Sizing Systems

Hey, try looking into PANARACER PASELA PROTITE, around $30-40 at your local bike shop. There should be no compatibility issues if the tires that are on it actually say 27" x 1-1/4 up to 1-3/8 written on the sidewalls. Just make sure the wheels have not been converted to 700c. If is has been converted, then the tires will have a 700c size instead of 27" size
