Camino Circle

Hi guys,

I'm the lucky new owner (for a couple of days) of a Trek Domane SL6. Since I'm still waiting for my new shoes to be delivered, I didn't seriously rode this bike so far, except some hundred yards in front of my home. But I already noticed two so called "issues".
1. Front derailleur on the biggest chainwheel and rear derailleur set on the last 5 or 6 smallest sprockets (right side of the cassette), the chain is not driving smoothly. Some vibrations are noticed, like if the chain was "gripping" on the cassette. I tried to remove and put back the rear wheel in order to align everything together. It was a little better, but didn't solve it perfectly. Maybe I should ride the bike for a while and wait for everything to work together.
2. Rear derailleur set on speed 8-9 to 11 (far right of the cassette), as I push hard on the pedals (or when I'm standing up on them), I noticed a friction from the front derailleur (most likely) or the crankset on each pedal revolution. This friction doesn't exist when I pedal normally.

Hello. I hope you chain does grip the cassette. Ha.
You probably need some minor shift cable adjustment. New cables will stretch a bit.
Same with front deraileur rub .... minor adjustment needed for your mighty 400 watts of power which is flexing the frame.

Your problems are 100% normal. The cassette is fairly wide and the chain will move sideways within the FD cage as it comes from various angles in the rear.

There is a "trim" shift built into the FD shifter. It's the first click coming off the high gear position and moves the FD cage inboard a millimeter or two to accommodate the chain coming from a more inboard angle.

So, full high on the outer end of the cassette, and "trim" high when on the inner half or so.
