Source for replacement Bebop / VP cleats? Or am I too late?

I'm one of those weirdos still using Bebop pedals, and today when I looked for replacement cleats I discovered they seem to have disappeared from the usual sources. VP Components still lists part # BBP-31 in their catalog:
BBP-31 - VP Components
but no one seems to have them in stock, and ebay shows no recently completed auctions of new cleats.

My pedals are in fair condition and I still have a rebuild kit waiting to be used, but I neglected to stockpile a lifetime supply of cleats. Is this the end of the line?

Anyone care to recommend a replacement with plenty of float?

Unfortunately I live in the US and Amazon Canada refuses to ship me that item.

I did make an inquiry to VP Components, and today they sent a reply:

"This year we had to change suppliers for the particular steel used in the cleats and it led to some production delays. New Cleats will be in production Soon and should be back in stock in the new year."

so I may have to limp along for quite a while, unless some more of these turn up on Ebay in the meantime

On the bright side, they at least intend to make more cleats soon. Imagine if your pedals had become abandonware instead.

I think I ordered the last cleat set on Amazon that showed "available". That was two months ago. Says it should arrive in November.

Just received the following:

Hi All-

Thanks for waiting for an update on Bebop-

The decision was taken in the company to officially stop producing Bebop
pedals.

The reasoning was an unfortunate combination of rising materials cost, low
demand, and lack of factory capacity (with newer fast growing business
taking up all available space in our prodcution schedule)

so that is the bad news.

I personally want to thank you for being enthusiastic Bebop users and I
know that this will be a real bummer for many of you as you are die-hard
Bebop riders and have been for as many as 15+ years.

thanks-

If you have any cleats gathering dust, now would be a good time to ebay them. Probably double in value overnight.

PS anyone need a couple extra pedal rebuild kits?

Haha, oh well. My cleats never arrived.

I use them because they are a good road pedal that fits mountain bike shoes. So I can rock the VR90 shoes on the road bike and still be able to have good traction when I'm walking.

Down to my last set of cleats. When these break, it's allllll over.

All they really needed was an updated cleat design to improve durability. The pedals themselves are really well made.
