Poor Quality 5800/105 Calipers?
Anyone else experience this?
I have the latest gen 105 calipers. The front arm on the front caliper moves several millimeters front to back in relation to the rear arm. Its as if the bushings are worn out.
Going from 9-speed era 105 calipers, I was disappointed last August the first time I rode the new groupset. Feel is horrible. It feels like the cable is stretching and initial bite is very poor. If I hold the front brake lever and rock the bike back and forth it clunks, feels as if the headset is loose. The rear has the same issue but not as bad.
Do I just have a bad pair of calipers or do others experience the same issue?

I believe you asked the same brake question in another thread and I recommenced a fix there. Here is what I wrote:
Shimano caliper brakes are adjustable to remove this kind of wear. The pivot bolt for that arm has a lock nut on the back side. Loosen the locknut and tighten the bolt with a suitable allen key until the play is gone and retighten the lock nut. This is a sensitive adjustment as the difference between no play and binding is very small so it may take a few tries to get it right.
You should be able to adjust those calipers to remove the play but not bind.

Thank you Doctor.
Brakes will go into surgery and rehab this weekend. I'll let you know.
