First time using SRAM
I recently bought a used sram force group set. This is the first time I've tried a sram group as I normally have used shimano ultegra.
Everything seems fairly straightforward except for the FD has a lever on it I do not understand what the purpose is for it. See pics
If you know the function of this lever please let me know

If you mean the lever in front, it's a chain keeper. It should just clear the chain when it's on the small ring.
There's a small set screw to adjust the gap.
It mitigates the possibility of the chain getting between the crank set and the frame.

If it's a newer Yaw version the setup is subtly a bit different than a standard front DR. You might want to download the instructions. It will save a lot of time and frustration.

SRAM Eagle and eTap coming to a walmart near you, lol.
I've seen shimano on far more budget builds than SRAM.
I'm not big on old SRAM doubletap, but have no qualms with eTap...and practically everyone I know buying a $5k+ mtb these days is putting Eagle on it.

My Mr Pink came with SRAM Rival and after nearly 1300 miles, I still have issues with the chain dropping from the big ring to the small ring when I shift the back. I've setup the FD about 10 times, it works for a couple of days, then I have the same issue. It's currently in the shop getting Dura Ace, thanks to a friend selling me his takeoffs for a helluva price.

lol, no one would ride bikes if SRAM was the introductory department store option. Everyone would be pissed off and take up rollerblading instead.

It's easy enough to get used to, but I can't say I'm a fan. Different strokes tho...

hahaha, it's true!
That said, I'm putting eTap on the new bike. I know it still has it's faults, but I really dig the way it shifts...also, I'm told there's no launch date in site for the new di2.

sram is an acronym comprising the names of its founders, scott, ray, and sam, (where ray is the middle name of company head stan day).
Edit: When I posted this, it de-capitalized everything. WTF^2 ?
