I'm running a 26" 719 with no problems, but I haven't really pounded it much either. I built the wheel at the start of the year and it's really only seen snow and slush.

Still, no complaints, 2.1" tires.

I've got an older version of a Mavic touring rim. The biggest tire I've mounted is a 700x45. I think you should be fine.

I've got a 319 front and 719 back, works pretty well. I slam into potholes at insane speeds everyday going to work and it seems fine on my 700x35's.

From what I gather, these are supposed to amongst the strongest for touring, commuting.
