Long throw quick release

Everybody is aware of the safety tabs on fork dropouts to prevent accidental loss of your front wheel. Most roof rack systems offer long throw quick release levers so that you don't have to readjust the quick release nut every time you use it to carry your bike.

Is there any reason why a long throw quick release to clear the safety tabs wouldn't work on a bicycle hub? Does somebody even market one today?

Ummmm, Retro? I'm one of those that don't know what a safety tab looks like. Do you think a pic could be posted? Please? Thanks. (Sorry I'm so naive!)

Also known as lawyer lips. You can see them removed in this image:

They're supposed to keep you from being an idiot of your own accord.

Website shows that they're available from Quality (and thus your LBS), among other places.
