Sram NX derailleur sticking
My 5 month old bike has a 1x11 Sram NX rear derailleur, which is having a problem at the minute that I'm struggling to solve.
The rear derailleur sticks when moving from the largest cassette ring down. This started a month or two ago, it would stick until I'd shifted up 3 gears then it would wake up. Its got worse since then, and now it doesn't matter how many gears I shift from the largest ring, it won't move. I think I've discounted the basics:
The gears are indexed ok, it shifts from smallest to largest fine, and any shifts in the smallest 5 or 6 chain rings are perfect.
I don't think its the cables. The cable at the derailleur is moving, there is enough slack after a few downshifts for the derailleur to move - it isn't friction in the cables that's holding it in place.
I don't think theres anything internally wrong with the derailleur, with the rear wheel off it shifts in both directions perfectly.
This isn't a major problem, as soon as the bike gets a jolt it jumps to whatever gear it should be in, but its a little frustrating that things aren't working as they should. Does anyone have any ideas what I should be looking at?

Hi , I'm currently having the same issues with my rear mech, did you cure yours??

Yeah, in my case I think it was that the chain was wearing and was slightly too long. I took out a link or two, adjusted the b screw and it was fine. It's happened again since then, and the same thing fixed it. I use it as a sign I need to replace the chain.

I知 having this issue also
Hi all,
I知 having this exaxt issue but the bike has done maybe 20miles so cant see it being the chain at fault. Anyone else having this issue. I think it maybe be the derailer itself. I知 leaving plenty slack in the cable in order for the chain to shift to the smaller cogs but gear will not change. Anyone has to remove the derailer and free off?
Thanks

Check for free movement of the cable at the derailleur end, may have a kink.
Release the cable from the derailleur and see if it is smooth when moving the derailleur by hand, if not it is gunked up or has sand in it.

Upgrade
I値l have a check of those thibgs and see if I can find a fault. Is there much advantage in upgrading to a SRAM XX1 Eagle rear mech? If I did, doni need to change the whole groupset of is it compatible with the cassete/triggers etc?
thanks

Just got this derailer and same issue
It's not the cable. It's sticking as it expands out to the big cog. It's locking itself out. I thought the button might have engaged it but it's not. It sticks so firm it doesn't need the button! I'll try the b screw and such but I've never seen something like this before.

I am also having the exact same problem. Did all the checks on the usual suspects but still no joy so took it to my LBS (where I bought the bike new in April 2020). They did the same checks and replaced the cable but was still getting stuck and said it was the derailleur that wasn't working correctly. Unfortunately because it is a moving part they said its unlikely it will get replaced under warranty but I am just going to upgrade anyway to try and avoid the same problem in the future.

Hey All, I forgot to report that I fixed mine, but I'm not sure how!
I'm not expert but I've installed derailers over the years. Occasionally you mount it sort of 90 degrees off or you get it so the spring is not in the right place. It's often obvious and as you step back you see the derailleur is not hanging correctly for the gear it is in. I think this is why this issue is confusing, as it did to seem to hang correctly. But t the more it stretched out as it went into the larger cogs the more it'd jam up. In fact I notice it would completely binding against this little stopper screw and I removed it (have photo but unable to post). so the derailleur would work but it was not shifting properly and then it'd just get stuck in larger cog position and not return as I went into the smaller cogs. In a couple of instances I had to get off the bike and force it by hand back so it would sprint to engage the smaller cogs. In just the small cogs it did not shift smoothly but it did work. I ran it like this for 2 or 3 weeks!
at some point I decided I must have something wrong as it still looked brand new, I'm took it off and I'm not sure what I did, if I untwisted a loop or just spun the little metal part at the back of the mounting bolt or what? But I remounted it, turned it up, and it words flawlessly!! I got this derailleur so I could go back to grip shift and it's such a joy! I never did reinstall the pin...
so don't give up, maybe just play with how you're mounting it. It may be correct even though it looks correct.
