Woobly Freewheel? What could be the problem?
Hello, when I pedal and then let the rear wheel spin freely, my whole cassette does this woobly spin (kind of like a spinning top when it is dying). Anyone know what is wrong? Is the cassette and freewheel just too old?

Check for excess slop in the bearings. If you can't adjust the slop out, you may need a new freehub body. Then again, a certain amount of "cluster float" is normal.

Every freewheel/freehub has some wobble in it as it freespins. If not, the pawls are engaged and it is fixed to the hub.

I just ran into a similar problem with a brand new cassette. Turns out the three tiny bolts holding the stack of gears and spacers together just needed to be loosened and the stack straightened out and then they were retightened. Worked great.
