Cantilever straddle wire replacement
The straddle wire and nuts on my cantilever brakes are pretty rusty so, while replacing cables generally, I also am replacing the straddle cable. I was about to install the type of shimano wire pictured when I realized that I had failed to notice that may brakes are the reverse of the picture, with anchor bolt on the left as you face the bike rather than the right as pictured so I have to hace barrel end of the straddle to the right. The only consequence I can see is that the label on the cable wire will face inward rather tan outward. Aside from style points, is there any functional reason I shouldn't install the straddle wire with label facing inward?

your main cable passes through a short piece of housing from the center disc..
to the cable clamp on the arm of the brake.
