Source for particular rim size

I have a great set of handbuilt wheels on my long haul trucker. I had an accident and ruined the rear rim. My local bike shop cannot find a rim that will lace to my high end 10 speed hub. It is a 26 inch (559), rim brake, 28 spoke wheel. Any ideas where I might find one laying around somewhere?

Otherwise my very nice hub becomes a conversation piece.

They cannot get the same one from QBP, who is the company owning Surly bikes brand...

why the low spoke count hub? vs 32 like others?

BTW Sun CR 18 extrusion die is used to make the shape that is rolled into all sorts of diameters
406 20" on my bike friday. theyre 32 hole..

The 16" 349 In the Tikit, is 24 spoke, so they can use a 36 hole hub..

Calhoun/Perennial cycles in Minneapolis not willing to build you a custom wheel?..

Special order is the opposite of having one "laying around " on speculation that a future walk in wants It.

find another shop while you're at it... the person that said they "can't find a rim to fit..." is either an idiot, or a liar.... or both.

This has historically been a good shop.

They may be limited by their specific supply channels.
My LBS is part of a small franchise and the operator has to order through "the head office".
