Knocking when pedaling

So, I have a new 5 speed sunrace freewheel on my nuovo record rear hub.

When I pedal it sometimes knocks as long as I am pedaling. It is a knock knock knock at no particular point in the rotation and continues as long as I pedal forward, several times per crank rotation. Here's the interesting thing. If I stop and resume pedaling it sometimes goes away for as long as I keep pedaling or sometimes it will resume right away. Any idea?

Keep in mind that the f/w is stationary WRT the hub while pedaling, and as such an unlikely suspect.
But if its an old chain on a new f/w, odds are the rollers aren't meshing just right with the teeth. The noise may be the chain shifting and settling a little.

Possibly the freewheel pawls not lining up perfectly with each other all the time. Well documented on some singlespeed freewheels. Nothing you can do save spend more on a higher quality component. Good news is that it is merely a nuisance rather than a sign of impending failure.

I have had a clunk and a knock after a freewheel change, but now I always replace my chain when I replace the freewheel, no more skipping clunks it costs me about $26.00 twice a year for the set. I put on a lot of miles and lube every other ride with White Lightning EPIC Ride Lube.

If nothing else works, try tightening the BB and the BB bolts.
