crank brothers davitamon lotto 4ti

I need some advise on some pedals. I've recently purchased a new K2 Sidewinder FS and want
to upgrade the stook pedals to the crank brothers davitamon lotto 4ti. However, I understand
that these pedals are made for road bikes. Is there any reason that they would not fit on a MTB.

They would fit but why take such a beautiful pedal off road?

You would probably destroy them if you weigh more than 125lbs.

Why not just go with single titanium egg beaters?

They weigh the same and you can save $200 plus dollars.

I must say your right, it is a beautiful pedal and that's what has gotten my attention.
As for the price I have found them on ebay of around $100. I really like this pedal because
It provides a nice sized platform for those long rides. I don’t understand how weight would be
a problem. After all I can’t see all road bikers being less than a 125lbs and Crank Brothers does not
suggest any weight restrictions for this pedal. thank you for your reply.

Candys will probably give you the same contact area with the shoe, and is designed for off-road use. In my own test with my Candy SL and Egg Beater S pedals, both of these actually have the same contact area with the shoes. When I looked at the quattro at my LBS, seemed like they'd be the same.

For foot comfort on longer rides, get a stiffer shoe. With Sidi Dominators, there's no difference in comfort for me between Egg Beater S and Candy SL, on or off-road, even for 100 mile road rides.

Undoubtably the wieght restriction is there mostly for libility puposes, but I road pedal has to deal with a lot less impact than a mountian pedal. Im about 177, and would be a bit nervous to ride on something that has any sort of restriction. I would go with a candy SL and not worry about it.
