swapping solid axle for hollow... stupid Q?

so... i think i already know the answer to this, but i want to make sure lest i screw something up...

can i take a solid axle out of a hub and replace it with a hollow axle for quick-release? it seems to me like this would be pretty simple, but i don't want to get started on this only to figure out it doesn't work for some reason...

anyone care to advise? i appreciate it!

I just did it. Gives you a chance to clean and repack your hubs, too! It will be a great help to have a 13mm/14mm cone wrench (which is thin enough to grab the cones while you loosen the locknut.

Yeah, you can do it, but only if the solid axle is a standard threaded solid axle. Because you need to get the cones and locknuts to fit on the new axle. So it should be possible with most cup-and-cone hubs but not with cartridge bearing hubs.

www.loosescrews.com sells both QR and solid axles: https://loosescrews.com/index.cgi?c=H...d=766857522684
