Remove paint to chrome technique?

Is this possible? I have a bent fork, I found a fork from another bike of the same model, but it's yellow instead of white, would be very clashy to just install it that way. Thought about painting the yellow black, that would go with the white frame ok, but I can see thru some scrapes in the paint that the entire fork is chrome underneath. Would like to sand or steel wool or SOMEHOW remove the paint off to the chrome finish, leaving the entire fork chrome. Has anyone done this? What's the technique you used?

That's easy enough. Use some stripper and 0000 steel wool, lightly and go at it. If you are using strong enough stripper, most of the paint should just lift off. Wipe it down with water and dry thoroughly. Polished chrome forks look great. Good luck.

Yeah, use a chemical stripper, and just touch up with some ultra fine steel wool. Finish with a good chrome polish like Mother's (from an auto parts store). Don't try to sand it off, you'll probably hurt the chrome.

peace,

Don't always count on the chrome being nice and polished under the paint.
