I have a 1971 Peugeot UO-8 with an AGDA saddle and it has slipped down the seatpost, which is now poking into the saddle, making it uncomfortable to ride. Is it possible to fix this without replacing the saddle?

Thanks

YES.

Search on "peugeot saddle leather seat post" on the Harris Cyclery page for more details.

The short of it: these saddles had their mounting widge installed upside down "to make them look cool" and this typically caused the post to poke the saddle.

Flip the widget upside down. (I don't know what the actual name of the widget is...it's the thing that attaches to the saddle rails and sits on top of the seat-post)

Yeah! That thing!

Here's the link to the story BTW: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/carapace.html#uo8

Kinda funny - I love this paragraph:

"Younger readers may not realize the hallowed place in history occupied by
the UO-8...this model probably did more than anything else to cause
leather saddles to go out of style!"

Read the article - you'll see why.
